These ambassadors are responsible for patrolling the downtown campus daily from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Campus Ambassador Responsibilities
While patrolling their assigned areas, Campus Ambassadors perform a wide variety of services to improve the campus environment and ensure safety. These responsibilities include:
- University and Community Outreach: Building relationships, partnering with university and local partners, through assisting with events and providing resources for the campus and local community.
- Way Finding Assistance: Helping visitors, students, faculty and staff navigate the campus and find specific locations.
- Building Checks: Interacting with building occupants to address concerns or report issues that need follow-up.
- Identification of Safety Hazards: Detecting potential safety risks such as loitering, property damage, unlocked doors or poorly lit areas.
- Operational Efficiency: Reporting issues like outdated signage or building/parking deck access problems that affect the smooth functioning of campus operations.
- Cleanliness: Reporting areas that need cleaning, including trash or graffiti.
Campus Ambassador Patrol Areas
Campus Ambassadors are assigned to five main quads across the downtown campus.

The monitoring center is staffed 24/7 to ensure continuous operational oversight and provide support at all hours of the day.
The Campus Ambassador Monitoring Center (CAMC) serves as the central hub for operational management across the campus. Located at University Commons, the CAMC is open 24/7 and is tasked with coordinating the activities of the Campus Ambassador Program and assisting the overall safety and operational efficiency of the campus.
Core Functions of the CAMC include:
1. Panther Place Operations
- Purpose: Provides a secure, staffed location open 24/7, offering refuge during emergencies.
- Key Features:
- Provides a safe space during campus-wide emergencies.
- Trained staff coordinate with security and emergency response teams.
- Available 24/7 for constant support to the campus community.
2. Dispatch for the Campus Ambassador Program
- Purpose: The CAMC acts as the dispatch center for issues reported by campus ambassadors, forwarding them to the appropriate departments for resolution.
- Key Features:
- Efficient tracking and management of reported issues.
- Seamless coordination with relevant departments like campus police, facilities and parking.
- Centralized communication to ensure that no issue goes unresolved.
3. Operational Monitoring Center
- Purpose: Monitors and optimizes campus operations, including parking, transportation and building access.
- Key Features:
- Identifies and resolves inefficiencies in parking structures and gates.
- Quick response to fluctuating demand for transportation services, dispatching additional transportation when necessary.
- Monitors building access to optimize flow in high-traffic areas.
4. Panther Ride Service Dispatch
- Purpose: Manage and dispatch the Panther Ride service, ensuring Georgia State's ride-share transportation service operates smoothly and efficiently during evening hours (Monday-Thursday, 6 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.).
- Key Features:
- Coordination with Panther Ride drivers to provide safe, reliable and on-demand transportation for students, faculty and staff.
- Monitoring of the Panther Ride service requests submitted via the Passio GO! app.
- Quick response to fluctuating demand for rides, dispatching additional transportation when necessary.
5. Safety Monitoring and Campus Presence
- Purpose: Provides a visible presence on campus, reassuring students, faculty and staff about the university’s commitment to safety.
- Key Features:
- Strategically positioned at University Commons for maximum visibility.
- Actively monitors campus activities and engages with security personnel and ambassadors.
- Maintains a proactive presence to help prevent and mitigate incidents.
